Hearts of Oak head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has hailed the Accra Sports Stadium as the best playing surface in Ghana.
During one of the busiest Christmas periods last year, the National Sports Authority made a decisive move to protect the stadium’s turf, mandating that no activities take place on the grass without the use of pitch protectors.
Skeptics, however, questioned whether the Green Grass Technology (aGGT) maintenance schedule which is capital-intensive and requires round-the-clock care could consistently deliver results over time.

Five months later, those doubts have been decisively put to rest. The Accra Sports Stadium pitch continues to stand out as the best-maintained sports surface in the country, a fact endorsed by Hearts of Oak head coach Didi Dramani.
The coach’s praise came after Hearts of Oak secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Young Apostles on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in one of their most dominant performances of the season.
“The Accra sports stadium has the best pitch in Ghana. If you are a good football-loving person, you want to play on a very good pitch, a good pitch like this, so that you can pass the ball.”
“Those days, if we are going to play in a Accra Sports stadium, we have to go to a small grass place, just to train on it because you know you are going to play on the grass. This is the best pitch that you can have in Ghana.”
“If you have the chance to play matches here, you can always do your best, and then you have the pitch on your side, and I hope all our pitches in Ghana become like this.” He said.
The win moves Hearts of Oak up to third in the league with 46 points, just five shy of leaders Bibiani Gold Stars, keeping them firmly in contention for the title.
Meanwhile, Young Apostles slide further into relegation danger, occupying 16th place with 33 points.
