Liverpool FC’s 2025–2026 UEFA Champions League campaign is over after a quarterfinal exit to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The Reds were beaten 2-0 at Anfield in the second leg, sealing a 4-0 aggregate defeat and ending their European run.
The loss was compounded by an injury scare to striker Hugo Ekitike, who was stretchered off after reportedly suffering an Achilles problem. The setback raises concerns over his availability for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with France.
Speaking after the game, teammate Ibrahima Konaté addressed the situation, expressing concern over Ekitike’s condition.
“Today we created many chances and I think on the pitch we were the better team.”

“It was a little bit unfair it was like season, we had many chances but could not score and they had one or two chances and score.”

“I think it is bad. I don’t know, I have heard many things, I have no word to talk about that because with the World Cup coming it is very, very hard for him-Ekitike- and I send him my prayers” Ibrahima Konate said to Amazon Prime.
