Berekum Chelsea will resume training on Monday, April 20, 2026, even as psychological and medical assessments for some players and staff continue following the fatal robbery attack that claimed the life of Dominic Frimpong.

The club suspended activities after the April 12 incident, when armed robbers attacked the team bus along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District as the team travelled from Samreboi to Berekum. Frimpong died from gunshot wounds sustained during the attack.

Speaking to Citi Sports, the club’s Public Relations Officer, Isaac Obeng, said while some members of the team are still undergoing assessment, others have been cleared to gradually return to training.

He added that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has postponed Berekum Chelsea’s Matchday 30 fixture to May 6 to give the team more time to recover from the traumatic incident.

The attack has triggered renewed concerns about the safety of teams travelling for domestic league matches, with calls for tighter security arrangements.

Police investigations remain ongoing, with two suspects, including a suspected gang leader, already arrested in connection with the incident.
