Keta FC has applied to the Volta Regional Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee for a stay of execution of its ruling in the case involving Yingor FC, pending an appeal before the Ghana Football Association Appeals Committee.

The case stems from a protest filed against Keta FC after its 3-2 win over Yingor FC in the Middle League.

Keta FC has described the protest being considered by the Disciplinary Committee as disappointing, arguing that the issue relates to the 2023/2024 season, a competition Yingor FC did not participate in.

The club filed its appeal on May 28, 2026, and says enforcing the ruling now could damage its promotion hopes.

Keta FC said the disciplinary decision deducted three points from the club while it sits top of the Middle Leagues table ahead of its final league match on Sunday, May 31, a game expected to decide promotion to Division One.

The club argued that if the stay is denied and the Appeals Committee later overturns the ruling, it would still have lost the chance to play the decisive fixture, making the appeal meaningless.

“The appeal would be rendered nugatory even if it is successful,” the club said in its filing.

Keta FC also argued that its appeal has strong grounds because the Volta RFA raised no objections to the club’s participation before the disciplinary ruling.

The club further claimed Yingor FC lacked the legal standing to file the protest because it was a third party in the matter.

Keta FC added that enforcing the ruling immediately would be unfair because the opportunity to play the final match cannot be restored once it is lost.

The club also cited the financial investment made throughout the season, saying denying the team the chance to complete the campaign would waste significant resources.

Keta FC, in its application, urged the Committee to grant the stay “in the interest of justice and equity.”
