Defending champions Nigeria stormed into the quarter finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 6-2 win over Egypt at Stade Moulay Hassan on Wednesday.

Substitute Gift Monday doubled Nigeria’s advantage in first half stoppage time after a well worked short corner involving Toni Payne and Rinsola Babajide. Egypt pulled one back before the break to make it 2-1.
Nigeria tightened their grip on the match after halftime, with Uchenna Kanu restoring the two-goal cushion in the 57th minute with a composed left-foot finish.
The Super Falcons were awarded two more penalties after VAR reviews, both of which were converted by Christy Ucheibe and captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
Joy Omewa completed the scoring in stoppage time, finishing off a move created by Monday and Ajibade to score her first WAFCON goal and seal an emphatic 6-2 victory.
Nigeria will now face Cameroon in the quarter finals as they continue their bid to retain the WAFCON title.
