Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Under 20 Football Team (Black Princesses), Charles Sampson, has praised his team for bagging an important win at the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

The Princesses beat South Korea 3-1 in their second group game at the ongoing competition in Poland on Wednesday, September 9.

Sarah Nyarko, Ivy Osei Owusu and Ruth Amponsah scored all three goals in the second half for Ghana to grab the win.

Beating Korea was a resounding bounce back performance from Ghana after suffering a 3-0 loss to Ecuador in the opening game.

Speaking after the win, Charles Sampson said that the performance mirrored the expectations placed on them.

“Today, the team actually really showed up. They showed up with the character that we know they have in the team…they exhibited it exactly how it should be with a lot of enthusiasm and passion.”
