Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo is in line to make his CAF Champions League debut after Al-Swehly SC secured a place in the second preliminary round with a convincing aggregate victory over KVZ FC.
The Libyan champions advanced 4-0 on aggregate, following up their 1-0 first-leg victory with a 3-0 win away to the Zanzibar side on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, John Oto John broke the deadlock before Mohammed Sola and Zad Al-Kheer Boukhawa added two more goals to seal a comfortable victory for Al-Swehly.
The result has set up a high-profile second-round tie against Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis, with Sibo expected to play a key role as Al-Swehly bid to advance to the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
Sibo joined Al-Swehly during the summer transfer window and, following his successful registration, could make his first CAF Champions League appearance when the two sides meet next month.
The 27-year-old missed Al-Swehly’s first-round preliminary matches but is now eligible to feature in the second round.
The second preliminary round will be played over two legs, with the first-leg matches scheduled for October 16 to 18 and the return fixtures set for October 23 to 25.
Meanwhile, Sibo is also expected to be included in Ghana’s squad for this month’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
