The three newly promoted clubs in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League experienced contrasting fortunes on Matchday 3, with Port City and Debibi United recording their first victories in the top flight while FC AshantiGold 04 suffered defeat.
Port City made history at the Nana Boamah Darko II Park with a 2-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea to secure their maiden Ghana Premier League win.
Francis Gyetuah was the standout performer for the newcomers, scoring twice to inspire the home side to victory. The former Samartex forward opened the scoring in the seventh minute before completing his brace to give Port City a memorable result against the experienced Berekum Chelsea.
The victory marks an important milestone for Port City in their first-ever top-flight campaign after earning promotion ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Debibi United also celebrated their first Premier League victory in emphatic fashion, defeating Young Apostles 3-0 at the Debibi Presby Park.
Kojo Obeng Jr. played a central role in the victory, scoring twice in the opening 34 minutes to put Debibi United firmly in control.
The hosts added a third goal to complete a convincing victory and claim their first three points of the campaign. The match was subsequently interrupted by heavy rainfall before the final whistle, but the 3-0 scoreline stood.
For FC AshantiGold 04, their first defeat of the season came at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena, where Basake Holy Stars secured a narrow 1-0 win.
Hudson Joseph scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute as Basake Holy Stars edged a closely contested encounter.
AshantiGold 04 were unable to find an equaliser despite their efforts after the interval, handing the newly promoted side their first defeat since entering the top flight.
After three rounds of matches, the three debutants have now experienced all three possible outcomes, with Port City and Debibi United claiming their first wins while AshantiGold 04 look to respond in their next fixture.
