Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of breaching 114 of the 115 financial charges brought against them by the Premier League.
As seen on The Athletic, The verdict follows a lengthy investigation and a 12-week hearing before an independent commission, which concluded in December 2024. The Premier League originally charged City in February 2023 over alleged financial breaches dating from 2009 to 2018.
The charges relate to allegations including failing to provide accurate financial information, inaccurate reporting of player and manager remuneration, breaches of UEFA financial regulations and the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules, as well as alleged failures to cooperate with the league’s investigation.

City have consistently denied wrongdoing throughout the case.
The club are expected to appeal the reported findings, meaning the case is not yet at its final stage.
Sanctions yet to be decided
The commission has yet to determine the punishment, with the potential consequences depending on the final ruling and applicable Premier League rules.
Possible sanctions in such cases can include financial penalties, points deductions and other sporting measures. The eventual punishment, however, should not be assumed until it is formally announced.
The case has attracted significant attention because of the scale of the allegations and their potential implications for Manchester City’s previous Premier League campaigns.
City’s reported guilty verdict comes as the club continue their current Premier League season under new manager Enzo Maresca. They have made a perfect start to the campaign, winning their first five league matches.
The club’s appeal process could therefore extend the uncertainty surrounding one of the most significant financial cases in Premier League history.
