Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has left the club with immediate effect after just four games in charge.
The Board of Directors of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has agreed to Tinkler’s request to be released from his contract for personal reasons.
In a statement, the club said both parties had engaged in discussions in an attempt to avert the decision at this stage of their relationship, but ultimately respected Tinkler’s decision to leave.
The decision comes shortly after Kotoko’s 2–0 defeat to Aduana FC in Matchday 4 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Tinkler, who was appointed as the club’s permanent head coach on July 17, 2026, ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, replaced Karim Zito.
The South African tactician leaves after overseeing four league matches, recording one win, two draws and one defeat.
Despite his short stint, the club expressed its appreciation for Tinkler’s professionalism and commitment during his time with the Porcupine Warriors.
“Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is grateful to Coach Tinkler for his professionalism and commitment to the success of the club during his rather short stint with the Porcupine Warriors and wishes him well in his next endeavours,” the club said.
The club will now continue with its sporting plans under the leadership of Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo, with the existing technical team expected to proceed with the club’s strategies and objectives.
