Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says Ghana must end its run of poor results and turn its fortunes around.
Queiroz made the call at a press conference ahead of Ghana’s 2027 AFCON qualifier against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29. The Black Stars go into the game after a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire, with Malick Yalcouyé and Franck Kessié scoring for the Ivorians.
Ghana qualified for the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups but failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON. The Black Stars have also not won an AFCON qualifier since September 2023, a run Queiroz says must come to an end.
“We have to put all our efforts…to make it different; that’s the only thing I have to do, that’s the only thing I can do.”
“We have to turn this cycle of results. We have an opportunity to that [against Gambia]” Queiroz said.
Queiroz added that midfielder Ronald Donkor was questionable to be ready for the game against Gambia.
