Speaking on Channel One TV’s Face To Face, Kofi Adams addressed criticism of Ghana’s World Cup campaign while responding to allegations of the ministry’s involvement in the visa scandal linked to the tournament.
He also clarified that Yaw Ampofo Ankrah had been suspended, not sacked, from his role as Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
“If you consider our recent performance from failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup hosted in Russia to our performance at the 2022 [World Cup in] Qatar where we exited at the preliminary stage, to the 2026 [World Cup] where at least we advanced from the group stage, you cannot say it was a poor showing” Kofi Adams said.

Ghana secured four points at the World Cup after losing 2-1 to Croatia, drawing goalless with England and beating Panama 1-0 to progress to the round of 32.

However, the Black Stars lost 1-0 to Colombia to exit the competition.
“I will disagree with you if you say we did not do well at the World Cup.
If you consider our recent performance, from failing to qualify for the 2018 WC in Russia to our performance at the 2022 Qatar, where we exited at the group stage, to 2026 where at least we advanced from the group stage, you cannot say it was a poor showing”
