Hearts of Oak got their first win of the season after beating Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.
The match was virtually a derby since they now share the ground this season after Hearts moved there due to the ongoing renovation works at the Accra Sports Stadium.
After losing to AshGold last Saturday at the same venue, they were determined to get a response and they had Patrick Razak on the bench with Joseph Esso, a former Dwarfs player in the starting lineup.
Dwarfs started well and kept some pressure on Hearts in the first half but the crucial openings did not fall their way despite a good showing from the highly experienced Joseph Tagoe.
After a goalless first half, the break through came for the Phobians in the 58th minute through substitute Patrick Razak.
18 minutes later, Esso tapped home from close range after being found by a Christopher Bonney cross. It was a case of the two ex-Dwarfs players doing the damage on thew day.
Hearts head coach, Henry Wellington, said that despite the victory, he was still trying to figure out his best team for the season while Dwarfs head coach, Bashir Hayford, admitted that the Phobians deserved the victory.
The two teams return to action on Sunday when Hearts face Dreams FC and Dwarfs take on Karela FC.
