Karela are the best team we have faced so far- C.K Akonnor

Head Coach of Ghana Premier League leaders AshGold, C.K Akonnor, has described newly promoted Karela United as the toughest opposition he has faced so far this season.

AshGold had to dig deep against their less fancied opponents to earn a 1-0 win at the Len Clay Stadium, thanks to a goal from Richard Osei Agyemang, and Akonnor saluted the fight shown by his Ainyinase based opponents on the day.

“This is probably the toughest of the three matches we have played so far in the league this season,” he said.

“It was important we kept our focus because, winning against Hearts of Oak was a big deal and therefore if you are not careful, you could be complacent.

“We spoke about that and realized the match was difficult, the opponents were disciplined.”

Akonnor also praised his side’s resolve throughout the game, which ensured their 100% start to the season was kept intact.

“But we didn’t give them anything, we gave them nothing and that’s what I am proud of. If we continue to do this, it will help us,” he added.

AshGold are top of the league with maximum points from three games, and incidentally won the league the last time they won their first three league games.
