Fabin unhappy with Kotoko players after 2-0 loss to AshGold

Asante Kotoko head coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin, did not hide his displeasure at his team’s 2-0 loss to league leaders, AshGold, in Week 5 of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors went into game seeking to get another win after beating Eleven Wonders in Week 4 but they fell to goals from Samed Ibrahim, who headed home strongly from a corner, and Shafiu Mumuni, who flashed his shot across Felix Annan.

After the match, Fabin did not hesitate in pointing out where his players fell short of the required standards.

“I believe the defeat was down to naivety on our part. For AshGold’s first goal, the marking was not good. We had assigned every single player to a marker based on their height.

For the second goal, my players simply stood because they though the referee would whistle for an infringement after someone went down. I am very disappointed with this kind of play at level of the game.”

The result drops Kotoko to 6th place on 7 points on the Ghana Premier League table.
