Ghana’s Chef de Mission at the just ended Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Sahnoon Mohammed, has distanced himself from the scandal involving the over 60 Ghanaians who were deported from Australia during the games.

The said individuals were flagged by Australian officials, after they posed as journalists, although they unable to provide concrete evidence to back their claim.

Sahnoon, together with GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah, were recalled from the games by President Akufo Addo to aid in investigations into the matter, which has led to the subsequent suspension of Deputy Sports Minister Pius Hadzide, NSA Director-General Robert Sarfo-Mensah and NSA Board Chairman Kwadwo Baah-Agyemang.

Sahnoon who was addressing the media upon arrival from Australia, reiterated his innocence and promised to cooperate with the ongoing investigations.

“I think the call by the President that the matter be investigated is thoroughly welcome. At the end of the day, there is only one truth and any thorough investigation will vindicate me,” he said.
