Ghana Football Awards launched; nominees unveiled

The Ghana Football Awards was formally launched on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Samsung Premium Rooftop located on the Circle Ring Road in Accra.

Like the FIFA the Best Awards at the global level, the Ballon d’Or for Europe the CAF Awards in Africa, the f360 Ghana Football Awards, has come to fill in a void in serving as a point of aspiration for Ghana’s footballers both home and abroad and across genders.

The well-attended ceremony was also used to unveil nominees for the various categories:

Coach of the Year

  1. Yussif Abubakar (Aduana Stars)
  2. Klvas Rasmussen (WAFA)
  3. Mercy Tagoe (Black Queens Coach)

Team of the Year

  1. WAFA
  2. Aduana Stars
  3.  Ampem Darkoa ladies

Future Star Award

  1. Majeed Ashimeru (WAFA & Black Stars B)
  2. David Abagna Sandan (Wa All Stars)
  3. Princella Adubea (Black Princesses & Ampem Darkoa Ladies)

Goalkeeper of the Year

  1. Richard Ofori (Maritzburg United & Black Stars)
  2. Razak Abalora (WAFA)
  3. Joseph Addo (Aduana Stars & Black Stars B)

Home-Based Player of the Year

  1. Thomas Abbey (Hearts of Oak)
  2. Stephen Sarfo (Berekum Chelsea)
  3. Daniel Darkwah (Aduana Stars)

Foreign-based Player of the Year

  1. Jordan Ayew (Swansea)
  2. Albert Adomah (Aston Villa)
  3. Thomas Partey (Atletico Madrid)

Ghana Footballer of the Year

  1. Jordan Ayew (Swansea)
  2. Albert Adomah (Aston Villa)
  3. Thomas Partey (Atletico Madrid)
  4. Thomas Abbey (Ismaily)
  5. Richard Ofori (Maritzburg United)

The main event is expected to take place in June 2018. The event is powered by Kwesé Free Sports and produced by AE Media Communications.
