Accra Hearts of Oak has put out a message expressing sadness at the passing of the former Vice-President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur.

The incident occurred on Friday in Accra after he collapsed while working out at the gym.

Several political personalities including the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, and the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and former President, John Dramani Mahama, have shared their sympathies with the family of the late Amissah Arthur and Hearts of Oak joined that list via a statement on Friday.

The team said the it was “saddened” by the death and expressed its condolences to the family including the wife and children.

The statement also revealed that former Vice-President Amissah Arthur was a shareholder of the team and the club described him as a “great Phobian”.

Before taking up the position of Vice-President between 2012 and 2016, Amissah Arthur was the Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

Below is the full statement:

The management of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club Limited on behalf of the Phobia family, expresses its condolences to the bereaved family of former Vice-President of Ghana, His Excellency, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur, following his sudden demise this morning.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of this great Phobian and shareholder but trust in the Lord to grant him a perfect resting place as he  departs to eternal glory.

We share the pain of his colleagues, his family and the entire nation. Our condolences go especially to his wife and children, who undoubtedly will be most affected.

Amissah Arthur served mother Ghana diligently in many diverse ways and he was a true Phobian. He impacted positively on many lives.
