AWCON 2018: CAF to hold draw on Oct 21

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has set Sunday, October 21 as date for the official draw for the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ghana.

The draw for the 8-team competition will be held at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue in the nation’s capital, Accra.

Accra and Cape Coast are host cities for the flagship women’s competition and will host Group A and B teams respectively from November 17 to December 1.

Footy-Ghana.com understands that hosts Ghana will be the top seed in Group A with defending champions Nigeria leading Group B.

Six other countries – Algeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, South Africa and Zambia – will also know their path to success at the 11 th edition of the Women’s Afcon on the October 21 date.

Media Accreditation

Caf, today, announced that the media accreditation process for the official draw and final tournament of the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2018 will be as follows:

*Official draw: 21 October 2018 in Accra, Ghana

Accreditation window: 8 – 16 October 2018

*Final tournament: 17 November -1 December 2018

Accreditation window: 8 – 26 October 2018

Media interested in covering the official draw and final tournament can apply for accreditation through the CAF Media Channel via www.cafonline.com . Approval to access the CAF Media Channel does not mean you have been granted accreditation.

All applications are subject to confirmation. Confirmation will NOT be on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will be notified and provided with further information in due course. Furthermore, please be advised that international applicants are responsible for securing their own visas.
