Hearts of Oak have named former Black Stars players, Kim Grant, as the team’s new head coach starting December 1 this year.

Grant’s unveiling was done on Thursday in Accra and the club said in a statement that Grant’s experiences as both a coach and player placed him in the best stead for the job.

He played 14 times for the Black Stars and worked with several clubs across several continents including West Bromwich Albion.

In terms of a Ghanaian context, Grant has had stints with Elmina Sharks, Sea Lions FC and the Elmina Sharks Academy.

Hearts of Oak MD, Mark Noonan, spoke highly of the team’s new coach and what he would add to the Phobians.

“Kim is the right man to lead our programme forward. He has all the qualities we were looking for in a leader: integrity, work ethic, communication skills, attention to detail, and incredibly high standards of professionalism.

Add that to his rich experience as a player and a manager and his understanding of the local game, high level European training, comfort with modern training/ scouting technologies, and a commitment to playing entertaining, attacking football, make him the ideal fit.”

The club also stated that the lull in football in Ghana gave them the time needed to go through their options before settling on Grant.

Grant will take over from current interim head coach, Seth Hoffman, who will be re-assigned according to the statement from Hearts.
