Black Stars forward, Abdul Majeed Waris, finally opened his league goal account for French Ligue 1 side, Nantes, on Saturday in their 1-1 draw with Angers on Saturday.

Waris was introduced into the game in the 74th minute for Andre Girotto and found the net 15 minutes later to save a point for Nantes.

They had been 1-0 from the 5th minute of the match when Stephane Bahoken scored for Angers.

Waris took a pass from Emiliano Sala and sent his shot past Angers goalie Ludovic Butelle into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Nantes shared a video of the goal on their Twitter handle on Monday for the fans of the team savour the moment.

Waris making his 14th league appearance for Nantes and he was pleased with his second goal for the club. His first was in the Coupe de la Ligue in a 3-0 away win at Montpellier in October.

“For me, getting my first league goal for the club is a good thing. The match itself ended 1-1 and we did not lose so it was pleasant. The goal serves as good motivation for me and I have to keep on working hard so I can score more.

Now, I just want to keep putting in my effort to the team. It is very important that we pick up the victories and the points for the team and for the fans.”

Whats’s next for Waris?

Nantes travel to St. Etienne on November 30 and the Ghanaian could get a start in that tie.
