Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 Arsenal: Locadia, Aubameyang score as teams share spoils

Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium by a resilient Brighton and Hove Albion side.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his 12th Premier League goal of the season after just seven minutes as the hosts failed to clear their lines.

The Gabon international calmly side footed the ball into the top corner as it broke to him in the Brighton box.

But, despite creating a host of chances, the Gunners were undone by a long ball over the top as Jurgen Locadia capitalised to dribble past Bernd Leno and tap into an empty net.

The result moves Unai Emery’s men into the Champions League places before Chelsea’s game with Watford, but they are now only six points clear of Manchester United after their victory at home to Huddersfield.

Moment of the match

Mat Ryan made numerous saves to keep Arsenal out, but there was one which stood out in particular.

With Arsenal in the lead, Lucas Torreira picked the ball up in midfield and spotted Aubameyang making a run inside Martin Montoya.

The chipped through ball was perfectly weight and fell gloriously onto the chest of the former Borussia Dortmund striker, who seemed to be clear through.

However, his low shot to the goalkeeper’s right was somehow kept out courtesy of a great save by the Australian.
