Lou DiBella wants Commey vs Lomachenko to happen

Boxing promoter, Lou Di Bella, says he has plans of pitting Ghana’s Richard Commey against current WBA (Super) and WBO Lightweight champion, Vasyl Lomachenko in the near future.

DiBella’s intentions come way ahead of time as Commey is getting ready to face Isa Chaniev on February 2 for the vacant  IBF world lightweight title.

The two men are going for the belt Mikey Garcia vacated in 2018 after he decided to pursue a bout with Errol Spence Jr.

But even before Commey gets into the ring with Chaniev, DiBella, who has Commey signed to his imprint, DiBella Entertainment, is already dreaming of a showdown of the two men.

“I fully expect Richard Commey to come through his fight with Isa Chaniev and look good in doing it. Commey is a fantastic fighter, who will really look to show off he is right at the top of the lightweight division.

“We are not looking past the job on February 2, but when Richard becomes IBF World Champion, we want Lomachenko next. Richard will cause Lomachenko problems he has never seen before and I’m backing my man to cause an upset.”

Commey’s bout with Chaniev, which will be in Texas, will represent another attempt for Commey to win a world title after he lost to Robert Easter Jr. in 2016. Commey lost 115-112, 114-113 and 113-114 on the judges cards that night.
