If there is a trait that defines Isaac Dogboe, it is confidence and ahead of his rematch with Emmanuel Navarette for the WBO Super Bantamweight title, he has given a very bold prediction of the bout.
Dogboe lost the world title to the Mexican in December 2018 via a unanimous decision and he has stated that his hunt to recapture the title will last for only four rounds on May 11.
He has been in training in Keta getting ready for another shot at the world title and he made his bold call to Prince Dornu in an interview with Boxing Africa’s YouTube channel.
“I am always ready for this bout and everything has been done and it is all about tapering down and putting finishing touches before heading to Arizona to go and get my title back.
How long will the bout last? It will not go beyond four rounds. My confidence is rooted in the fact that God prepares my hands for war and my fingers for battle. I am confident that this fight will be different from the last one.”
Team Dogboe will fly to Arizona on May 3 to acclimatise to the weather and firm up preparations for the bout which will take place at the Tuscon Convention Centre.
The night will also have the rematch of the bout between Miguel “El Alacran” Berchelt and Francisco “El Bandido” Vargas.
What has Navarrete been saying?
“I am ready to show the world that our first fight was no accident. I am the better fighter, and I will show that again. Dogboe made a mistake in taking this rematch.”
What about Top Rank Promotions?
“We’re all looking forward to this card. Berchelt-Vargas and Navarrete-Dogboe were incredible action fights the first time around, and the rematches will provide fireworks.
This is surely one of the great fight cards of 2019, and there is no better place for it to take place than the incredible city of Tucson. The fight fans there are passionate, knowledgeable and will sell the building out.”
