Revenge, Shark attack and Fire: Review of “Betway 4’s” performance in NC Special

Revenge for Ashantigold, Liberty tame Sharks in NC Special week 11

Betway’s ‘Fantastic 4’ recorded a near perfect outing in Match Week 11 of the ongoing NC Special Competition with 3 wins and just the one defeat.

Ashantigold

On any given day, a meeting between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold is always a fierce affair. The Miners hosted their regional rivals at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, looking to exact revenge for a painful defeat in Kumasi a few weeks ago.

Since that 2-0 defeat in Kumasi, a lot has changed at Ashantigold having installed Kjetil Zachariassen as new head coach with Svetislav Tanasijevic demoted to youth team duties.

Kotoko were already limping before the game, having failed to beat Bechem United in their previous encounter and Ashantigold made sure to inflict an early wound. Mark Agyekum’s 44th minute strike handed the Miners a 1-0 victory over the Porcupine Warriors. It was a sweet revenge, served hot on the minefields of Obuasi.

The win moves them to within 4 points of 2nd place Kotoko in Zone A with two rounds of matches to play.

Medeama

Medeama Sporting Club are still riding top of Zone A despite suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bechem United in Bechem.

Charles Mensah  goal the difference. It’s the 3rd loss of the campaign for Samuel Boadu’s men but they remain 3 points clear of closest rivals Kotoko and course to qualify for the semi finals of the competition.

The Tarkwa-based side are tipped as one of the favorites to win the competition.

Liberty Professionals

The Scientific Soccer Lads followed up their impressive performance against Accra Hearts of Oak last week with another fabulous outing at home to tame the teeth of Elmina Sharks.

Prior to the game, Reginald Asante Boateng’s men had been involved in back to back draws, with their last home game against Karela United ending in a fascinating 3-3 draw in a game they threw away a 3 goal lead.

But once they got 3 goals against Sharks, they were determined to see out the victory, which they did, winning 3-1 against a Sharks team that had conceded just 2 goals in 10 games prior to that.

Simon Zibo, Benjamin Eshun and Elvis Kyei Baffour. George Amonoo got the consolation for the Sharks. The win moves Liberty to 4th place, 2 points behind 3rd place WAFA.

Aduana Stars

Aduana Stars took full advantage of Kotoko’s slip up when they beat Berekum Chelsea 1-0 to go level on points with the Porcupine Warriors on 15 points in Zone A.

Both teams are 4 points behind leaders Medeama with 2 games to play.

The 2017 Ghana Premier League Champions have thus put themselves in a position to qualify for the semi finals with Kotoko visiting Dormaa on the last day.

The 4 clubs continue to count on Betway’s sustained support to engineer further success.
