Visa, sponsor of the Total AFCON 2019 brought Egypt to Ghana when they organized AFCON viewing party for football lovers in Accra on Tuesday night for Black Stars AFCON 2019 opener against the Squirrels of Benin.
The party was graced by former Ghana internationals Charles Kwablan Akonnor and Augustine Arhinful and Veteran broadcaster, Karl Tufuor.
The trio joined hundreds of others at Carbon, Stanbic Heights to share their experiences before kick off and after.
Country Manager for Visa, Adoma Pepra said at “Visa, a partnership in football is more than sponsorship. We use it to help transform lives and economies.”
As an institution whose mission is to connect the world. Everyone, everywhere. “Nowhere does the world come together than around football. Nowhere is that more important than in Africa and Ghana has one of the best football teams on the continent.” She noted
Madam Adoma added that: “We think that the football tournaments we support are an extension of our brand, a brand that signifies collaboration, reliability, universal acceptance and inclusion.”

She revealed a testimony of how Visa transform lives when she announced that courtesy Visa some customers who used the the card fourteen (14) times within a month earned a trip to Egypt with a ward or a partner for Ghana’s second group game against defending champions, Cameroon this Saturday.

“I got to meet some of our winners who will be heading to Egypt this weekend to see Ghana play against Cameroon. These are fathers, godmothers, uncles, nephews and it was so heartwarming to see just how much this opportunity means to them all.

Our participation has enabled our financial institutions and merchant partners to send their customers to the games to be part of the experience. ”

Speaking to the media after the party, Madam Adoma explained that “Not everyone can be Egypt, not everyone would have the privilege of watching the games so a brand that is so powerful as Visa, we want to bring something that is close to Africans. We want to activate and make people experience it here in Accra.”
Visa signed a sponsorship deal that made them the payments giant the exclusive payment services provider at all venues for the Total AFCON tournaments in 2019 and 2021.
Visa is also the official partner of the player escort program, which has given over 1,100 children the opportunity to lead their football heroes out at the Total AFCON matches.
