Atalanta interested in signing Alfred Duncan

Ghanaian midfielder, Alfred Duncan, may not be in Sassuolo colours next season, as interest from fellow Serie A side Atalanta grows stronger.

The 26 year old, according to Sky Italy, heads the list of targets for the Lombardy based side ahead of the summer transfer window.

Duncan signed a contract extension at Sassuolo last summer; a deal which has an active buyout clause for clubs playing in the Champions League.

Atalanta finished 3rd in the just ended Serie A season, after a 3-1 win over Sassuolo on final day, and will play in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, is said to have followed Duncan’s progress throughout last season and is keen on adding him to his squad.

Duncan impressed last season for Sassuolo, scoring 4 times and providing 5 assists in 26 league appearances.

The combative midfielder will however miss the 2019 AFCON for Ghana, after being ruled out with an ankle injury.
