#AFCONonCiti: Morocco vs Benin [Match Preview]

Reading Time: 2 mins read

The stage is set for continental glory as the 2019 AFCON reaches the round of 16.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco will take on the Squirrels in the first Round of 16 game of the tournament.

Morocco has never lost a competitive game against Benin and coming into this game, they will fancy their chances against the West Africans.

MOROCCO:

The North Africans have had an impressive run in the tournament as they have won all three games they have played.

Morocco finished the group stage with nine points, scoring three goals and not conceding any as they topped Group D.

With the vast experience of their coach, Herve Renard, the Atlas Lions will be looking to going a little further in the tournament.

The French coach knows how to win the AFCON as he has two titles under his belt with Zambia and Ivory Coast.

PREDICTED LINEUP: (4-2-3-1)

Bounou, Dirar, Benatia, Saiss, Achraf Hakimi, Mbark Boussoufa, El Ahmadi, Hakim Ziyech, Nordine Amrabat, Belhanda and En Nesyri

BENIN:

The Squirrels of Benin qualified into the round of 16 with three straight draws in the group stage.

The West Africans started the tournament by holding the Black Stars to a draw in a goal fest in Ismailia. The two goals they got in that game are the only ones Michel Dussuyer’s team have got so far.

They have been strong-willed, and most of the credit certainly goes to their French manager. He will be looking at frustrating his compatriot in the other dugout.

PREDICTED LINEUP (5-4-1)

Farnolle, Baraze, Adilehou, Adenon, Verdon, Imorou, Pote, Sessegnon, D’Almeida, Djigla, Mounie.

PREDICTION

The squad depth of Morocco should be enough to see them through to the quarter finals.

The game will be played at the Al- Salam Stadium, Cairo at 16:00GMT and will be live on Citi TV
