Ghana’s Black Queens proved too strong for their Gabonese counterparts in Libreville after winning 3-0 on Wednesday in the first leg of their second round of the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers.

Goals from Juliet Acheampong in the 44th minute, Portia Boakye  in the 60th minute and Priscilla Okyere settled the tie ahead of the second leg which will be played on September 3 in Ghana.

The Queens started with Falali Dumehasi in goal, with Gladys Amfoebea, Ellen Coleman, Rita Okyere and Janet Egyir in defence, Juliet Acheampong, Alice Kusi, Grace Asantewaa in midfield, and Portia Boakye and Grace Animah in attack.

Success for Ghana over the two legs will set up a clash with either Kenya or Malawi.

The Queens are seeking the only ticket allocated to the African continent at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
