Asante Kotoko needed a 95th minute penalty from Naby Keita to help them beat San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire 1-0 in their rescheduled CAF Confederation Cup playoff on Monday.
The second half of the match was rained off on Sunday and match officials decided that it should be played on Monday.
The second half followed Sunday’s first in the sense that it was close and Kotoko struggled to break their Ivorian opponents despite dominating possession and having some good chances.
That was the case until the 95th minute when Sogne Yacouba was fouled in the San Pedro penalty box.
The referee pointed to the spot and Naby Keita scored the penalty to give Kotoko a slim advantage heading into the second leg in two weeks.
The winner of the tie over two legs will head to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
