GFA Elections: Kotoko take voting rights from George Amoako

Asante Kotoko have taken away their voting rights from their CEO, George Amoako, in relation to the upcoming GFA Elections on October 25.

The development emerged on Monday afternoon and it means that Amoako will not be representing Kotoko at the elections.

Initially, Amoako and Nana Gyambibi Coker had been chosen by the club to vote for it during the elections as demanded by the GFA Statutes and the two gentlemen had their names on the official delegates list of the FA.

However, Amoako has now been replaced by Isaac Donkor as its delegate for the elections.

Nana Gyambibi confirmed the incident to Kumasi-based, Oyerepa FM, and said:

“Our CEO, Kwame Kyei, told us of his decision to bring in Isaac Donkor and we had to respect it. He told us that he wanted Donkor and I to be Kotoko’s delegates. However, I do not know the reason for the change in delegate.”

It is unclear why Kotoko have taken that decision but sources close to club say Amoako and the club seem to have different preferences in terms of the candidate to vote for on the day of the elections.

Kotoko, like the other 15 Ghana Premier League clubs, will have to vote for their preferred candidate and the general rule is that the delegates should vote for the candidates their clubs are supporting in the polls.
