GFA Elections: New President to be voted into office on Friday

The Presidential elections for the Ghana Football Association will be held on Friday at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra.

The elections will decide who will run the Ghana FA for the next four years as Kwesi Nyantakyi’s replacement.

6 candidates- George Afriyie, Fred Pappoe, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Amanda Clinton, George Ankomah Mensah, and Kurt Okraku- will compete for the FA top job.

In all, 120 delegates will vote and these delegates will be drawn from:

the Premier League (32 votes);

Division One League 48 votes);

Various Constituent Bodies such as

Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) (1 vote);

Referees Association (2 votes);

Coaches Association (2 votes);

Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (2 votes);

Juvenile Clubs Association (2 votes);

Beach Soccer Association (1 vote);

Fustal (indoor football) association (1 vote);

Schools and colleges (1 vote);

Regional Football Associations (2 votes)

A candidate will require 50 percent plus one vote in order to win the elections outright.

The winner of the Presidential polls will head the GFA’s governing Executive Council which has 12 members.

The identities of 11 of those members were decided at an election on Thursday.

Madam Habiba Atta

Regional FAs

Linford Asamoah- Eastern Region

Robert Duncan/ Salifu Zida (run to decide the winner on Friday)

Division One League

Randy Abbey

Samuel Anim Addo

Mark Addo

Premier League

Frederick Acheampong

George Amoako

Kingsley Osei Bonsu

Dr. Tony Aubyn

Nana Oduro Sarfo
