Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah has handed debuts to Zulte-Waregam left back Gideon Mensah and Real Mallorca midfielder Iddrisu Baba in Ghana’s starting XI against South Africa in an AFCON 2021 qualifying match in Cape Coast.

The duo, who only received their first call ups to the national team for this game, have been thrown straight into action for the game against the Bafana Bafana which kicks off at 7pm at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Goalkeeper Richard Ofori maintains his place while Joseph Aidoo, Kassim Nuhu and Andy Yiadom complete the back four.

Appiah has gone for a 4-4-2 system with the midfield four comprising Iddrisu Baba, Alfred Duncan, Thomas Partey and captain Andre Ayew.

Emmanuel Boateng starts up front along with Jordan Ayew.

After Sudan thumped Sao Tome and Principe in the group’s other game, Ghana must beat the South Africans to get their campaign off to a winning start.
