See Andre Ayew score Swansea’s crucial first goal in win over Huddersfield [VIDEO]

Andre Ayew scored his 11th league goal of the season for Swansea as they won for the first time in six matches, against Huddersfield.

The Black Stars captain was in the right place at the right time to poke home after an initial shot was saved by the Huddersfield keeper, Jonas Lossl.

The 28th-minute goal gave Swansea a foothold early in the crucial game, as they searched for a win to keep their playoff hopes in the Championship on track.

However, Chris Willock equalised for the away side in the second half.

The Swans eventually sealed all three points as Jay Fulton headed home and Jordan Garrick scored from Conor Gallagher’s pass to give them a 3-1 win.

Swansea fans would have been grateful for the opener from Ayew as he once again showed the predatory instincts he is renowned for, finding himself in the six-yard box to slam home the rebound from Aldo Kalulu’s saved shot.

Up until then, the Swans had been on top but had not been able to take any of their chances, with the game looking like it would be another frustrating outing for the Welsh side.

Swansea are now ninth on the table, five points behind Preston North End in the final playoff place.

The goal was Andre Ayew’s 11th league goal of a stellar Championship season, in which he’s also provided five assists.

He now has 13 goals in all competitions this season.
