Lawyer for DK Poison, Peter Zwennes has confirmed that contact will soon be made with government to inquire about the state of their petition aimed at recovering an amount of 45,000 USD which belongs to his client.

The said amount, is money the state of Ghana borrowed from DK Poison in 1976 from his purse after he successfully defended his world title in Japan against Fukuyama.

“I hope that our last petition has been received and is being given attention.

“Sooner or later we will write back to find out what has happened to our petition,” he disclosed on Sportspanorama on Citi Fm.

Ghana’s first ever world boxing champion has since that second title defense petitioned various heads of state including Jerry Rawlings, John Agyekum Kuffour and John Dramani Mahama unsuccessfully.

He last petitioned the Nana Akufo Addo led NPP government in October 2019 but is yet to receive a response.
