‘Be safe’ – Thomas Partey urges Ghanaians to protect themselves amid Coronavirus outbreak [VIDEO]

Ghana and Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Teye Partey has sent a special message to Ghanaians on the need for them to take precautions against the Coronavirus disease as the pandemic continues to brought sports to a standstill.

Ghana has been hit with 16 confirmed cases and the Government, through the Ministries of Information and Health and the Ghana Health Service, has been updating Ghanaians on the situation, as well as giving tips on how to stay safe and healthy during the period.

The disease has crippled many sectors including sports forcing stakeholders in the domain to also engaged in public education in a bid to help curb its spread.

In line with this, Alfred Duncan, who plays his football in Italy, and Andy Yiadom, who plays in England, earlier shared their thoughts with Ghanaians through videos shared by the Ghana FA Twitter handle on Friday.

In another video released by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Thomas Partey urged everyone to adhere to the protocols outlined to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

“As we all know now, the situation with the Coronavirus is becoming serious, and we have to think of our health. So I urge everyone, I advise everyone to stick with the protocols, stay home, be safe and protect your family and yourself”.

The 26-year-old who plays for Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid has not been on the field since La Liga and the UEFA Champions League were halted due to the fast spread of the Coronavirus.

The impact of Coronavirus on sports has been felt in Ghana with the Ghana Premier League being suspended for a period of four weeks as directed by the President, Nana Akufo Addo.

The President stated on March 15 that all public gatherings including religious services and sporting activities had been put on hold for a month.

The Ghana FA also closed its offices on March 19 due to concerns over Coronavirus.
