Head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has joined the train of sportspersons who are doing their bit to help stop the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

He was seen on Friday, March 27, 2020, giving out hand sanitizers to street hawkers in Accra as part of his own contribution to help fight COVID-19.

Ghana, as on Sunday, March 29, 2020, has recorded a total of 152 cases, 5 deaths and 2 recoveries from the Coronavirus.

C. K Akonnor, shared a tweet of himself among some street hawkers as he gave out the hand sanitizers to help curb the spread of the pandemic.

The tweet was captioned, “The #COVID19 outbreak has brought the world to a standstill and yet together affects us all. I spent my afternoon today giving out hand sanitizers to some hawkers in the capital,”

Due to the fast spread of the virus, major sporting events have been suspended until at least a certain period, including Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header against Sudan.

The ties against Sudan would have been the former Black Stars player and now head coach of the team’s first games in charge of the squad.

CAF has however not stated when the AFCON qualifiers will be played.
