Benjamin Agyare criticizes Hearts of Oak for letting go of Joseph Esso

Former Hearts of Oak defender, Benjamin Agyare has criticized the club for letting one of their key players, Joseph Esso leave the club.

Agyare and Esso along with three others parted ways with the Phobians after failing to successfully negotiate a contract renewal with the club.

Explaining the reason for Esso’s exit, Communication Director for Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, stated that Esso wanted a one year extension of his contract while the club wanted a two year deal.

But in an interview with Angel FM, Agyare believes the club should have done better to keep a player of Esso’s calibre at the club.

“Even if Joseph Esso wanted 1 billion a month, Hearts should have agreed,” he said.

“Esso is a fantastic player and an important player for the club.

“I am really amazed at how they let a player with the calibre of Joseph Esso go. In fact, he was very disappointed at the outcome of the meeting.”

Agyare previously played for Hearts of Lions before joining Hearts of Oak in 2018.
