Following a CAF emergency meeting on Wednesday 19th August 2020, the Black Stars will return to action in November for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

CAF highlighted that the various countries on the continent will engage in double-headed ties from November 2020 to November 2021 for slots to the AFCON 2022 and World Cup 2022.

The qualifiers resume on 9-17 November 2020 with the Day 3 & 4 matches while the penultimate and ultimate matches take place on 22-30 March 2021.

Ghana’s match day 3 and 4 games will be against Sudan, home and away.

The Black Stars are in control in Group C after two matches played; victories against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe, gathering 6 points before the COVID disruptions.

With this, Charles Kwablan Akonnor will take charge of his first game as the new head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana as they place Sudan.

Meanwhile, CAF has also given the green light for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers to also commence in May 2021.

The 40 teams in contention for the five slots for Qatar 2022 will commence between 31 May and 15 June 2021 with the Day 1 and 2 matches.

From 30 August till 7 September, the Day 3 & 4 matches are expected to take place with Day 5 and 6 matches fixed for 4-12 October 2021.

The Playoff matches have been scheduled for 8-16 November 2021.
