Mercy Tagoe: Caf women’s Champions league a call to raise NWL standards

Black Queens and Halifax Ladies head coach Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo is of the opinion that the introduction of the CAF Women’s Champions League is a call to raise the standard of the women’s game in Ghana.

CAF approved the decision to begin a Champions League competition for women at its executive committee meeting on June 30, 2020.

“It’s great news.

“When we first heard that a competition had been introduced for women’s club competition I said wow, this should be a  target.

“That is the ultimate for now at the club level.

“At Halifax we hope to set the pace for others to follow,” she revealed to Citi Sports

According to her all teams that play in the National Women’s League should aspire to participate in the competition.

The tournament itself is set to be launched in 2021.
