Bayern Munich won every trophy possible in the 2019/2020 but they didn’t just win trophies, they also gained a lot of muscles.

At the start of the 2019/2020 season, some of the Bayern Munich team did not have the kind of body they possess now but dramatically after the COVID-19 break, they gained biceps and triceps as they blew away everyone in their path.

Significant mentions of the players who underwent these transformations include Leon Goretzka, Robert Lewandowski, Philippe Coutinho, Alphonso Davis, and Thiago Alcantara.

According to Goretzka, 25, he concentrated on a workout programme designed to increase muscle mass during the lockdown period.

“For me, the lockdown was both a crisis and an opportunity,” Goretzka explained in an interview with Bild.

“A crisis because you miss football and daily training with the team, but also a chance to gain muscle mass in co-ordination with the physiotherapist.

“In crucial games and moments, it is important to be physically and mentally fit. The weight helps me in tackles, makes me a bit more agile and robust. Not only on the ground in a one-on-one, but also in the air.”

According to Pep Guardiola during his time as manager of Bayern Munich, players like Robert Lewandowski took good care of himself and were so professional.

“He is the most professional player I have ever met,’ he said.

“In his head, he thinks about the right food, sleep, and training: 24 hours a day. He is always there, never injured, because he focuses on these things.

“He always knows what is important, to be in the best condition.”
