Covid-19 : Attamah Larweh becomes seventh Black Stars player to test positive

Ghana defender, Joseph Attamah has become the seventh Black Stars player to test positive for Coronavirus following the team’s friendlies against Mali and Qatar.

Jordan Ayew, Bernard Mensah, Gideon Mensah, Kasim Nuhu, Caleb Ekuban and Joseph Aidoo are the other players from the National team who have contracted the virus.

The Kayserispor defender was handed a late call-up to the squad but did not feature in any of the matches.

The Turkish based club announced that one of their players had tested positive for the virus and is receiving treatment but did not name the said player.

“Due to the COVID-19-like complaints of one of our players in the morning hours today, he was isolated from the team and applied a PCR test. Our player’s test was positive and the necessary treatment was started immediately.”

Reports however indicate that Attamah Larweh is the player who has returned a positive result, after he was excluded the squad that faced Sivasspor over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the GFA says it followed all the necessary Covid-19 protocols before, during and after the games.
