Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Thomas Partey is set to undergo a scan on a suspected thigh injury during Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Aston Villa.

The Black Stars midfielder lasted 45 minutes before being forced off during the break and was replaced by Dani Ceballos.

When asked about the severity of Partey’s injury after the game, Arteta said: “I don’t know. As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him.”

Arsenal’s manager also says he does not know if the injury would enough for the 28-year-old to withdraw from Ghana’s double Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.

“We don’t know [whether he will withdraw],” he added. “We have to scan him tomorrow or the day after and see what he felt straight away. Let’s wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.”

Ghana will host Sudan at the Cape Coast stadium on Thursday, November 12, before traveling to Khartoum to face the Falcons five days later in the reverse fixture.
