COVID-19: NSA to ensure proper spacing at match venues – Prof. Twumasi

Director General for the National Sports Authority, Prof. Peter Twumasi has stated that there are plans to ensure seating arrangements at stadiums in the country are done in a way that will mitigate the spread of Coronavirus.

Ghana and various countries around the world are experiencing a spike in Covid-19 cases which has prompted many of them to impose restrictions.

In January this year, Government granted permission for stadiums to admit 25% capacity for sporting activities in the country, reversing an earlier decision made in September 2020 banning fan attendance at stadiums.

Prof. Twumasi said the NSA will make sure that all the Covid-19 protocols are observed at all stadiums in the country.

“We are in tougher times during this COVID-19. So we are putting in measures to make sure everyone adheres strictly to the COVID-19 protocols when they come to the stadium”, he told Happy FM.

“In order to ensure that there is proper spacing done at the venue, we have done a proper demarcation so the fans know where to sit. We will make sure we will replicate this around all the various stadia”, he added.

The National Sports Authority has warned that anyone who flouts the Covid-19 protocols at the match venues will be punished.
