Black Satellites Head Coach, Abdul Karim Zito has reemphasized Ghana’s desire to win the ongoing U-20 AFCON tournament in Mauritania despite finishing third in Group C.
Ghana lost 2-1 to Gambia in their final group game of the the competition, missing out on the opportunity to finish the group stage on top.
Zito however says the defeat was nothing but a minor blip and is confident the Black Satellites can still bring the trophy to Ghana.
“Like I said before the game, every team that plays Ghana comes into the game to fight hard for a win. We take nothing from Gambia, they came out to win the game and took advantage of their chances,” Zito said after the game.
“We didn’t get the result we wanted but qualification to the next round is key because we have another opportunity to correct our mistakes.
“We have not lost hope because finishing third does not mean we can’t achieve our ultimate targets.”
Ghana will take on Cameroon who won all their games in Group A in the quarter-final of the tournament on Thursday.
