U-20 AFCON: We are going into Gambia game like ‘wounded tigers’ – Karim Zito

Black Satellites head coach, Abdul Karim Zito says the team will approach their semi-final against Gambia with a different character and attitude.

Ghana’s U-20 side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Gambia in their final group stage match, a result that left them third place in the group.

Despite losing to the Gambians in their first encounter, Zito is confident his side have identified their errors and will put up a better performance on Monday.

“Football is a game of uncertainties. There’s always an element of surprise and that’s what happened in the group stage against the Gambians.

“But we always have time to make amendments so meeting them again, what will in change our team is the character and attitude. You can expect that we will amend what we did wrong in the game we lost.”

“Africa football is changing. Previously you can easily say Ghana will beat Gambia but now their standard has improved.

“And there is always an element of surprise but now we are coming into this match like wounded tigers to secure a win”, he said at the Pre- match press conference held on Sunday.

Ghana progressed to the semi-final after overcoming the Young Lions of Cameroon on Penalty shoot-out while Gambia made light work of Central Africa Republic, beating them 3-0.

The match is expected to kick off at 4pm at the Stade Olympique in Nouakchott.
