Ghanaian sprinter, Benjamin Azamati was in blistering form over the weekend, dominating the Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Texas.

The West Texas A&M student ran a time of 20.13s  on Saturday in the 200m race; the second-fastest time ever ran by a Ghanaian over the distance.

It was, however, just short of Joseph Paul Amoah’s 20.08s ran in 2019 and ahead of Emmanuel Tuffour’s 1995 time of 20.15s.

The time also helped the sprinter qualify for the Tokyo Olympics and saw him become the 200m NCAA DII record holder.

His time also broke the LSC, the LSC meet and school record and now ranks him fourth among all collegiate runners in the US.
