“One mistake cost us against Hearts of Oak”- Mariano Baretto

Asante Kotoko head coach, Mariano Baretto, has stated that his team would have come out of their Super Clash with a better result had it not been for a single error on their side.

Kotoko lost 1-0 to their arch-rivals, Hearts of Oak, in their Week 31 tie in the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium to go three points behind the Phobians at the top of the table.

A 65th-minute goal from Daniel Afryie Barnieh settled the tie and after the match, Baretto pointed out how his side failed to get something from the game.

“We made one mistake during the entire match. We forgot to mark in midfield and we conceded the goal but we had chances too.

However, we failed to take them and without goals, you cannot win a match. We have to accept the result and congratulate Hearts of Oak.

But I have to say a word about my players. They fought hard and they gave it everything but we could not win. There are still three matches left but of course, things are more difficult now. The rest of the campaign is now dependent on Hearts of Oak and what they do in their matches.

Kotoko face King Faisal (home) in Week 32 before taking on Bechem United (away) and Elmina Sharks (home) in their final three matches of the season and Baretto will hope for some good fortune if they will win this season’s Ghana Premier League.
