‘Disgraceful’ – Outrage from Ghanaians after ridiculous goals in Ashgold-Inter Allies match

Ghanaians are outraged after claims of match-fixing marred the final round of matches in the Ghana Premier League.

The fixture between Ashgold and Inter Allies has come under the spotlight after videos of some questionable goals conceded by Allies hit the internet.

The videos show Allies defender, Hashmin Musah scoring two goals past his own goalkeeper to give Ashgold a 7-0 win on Sunday.

The match-fixing claims have been denied by Ashgold, while the player himself has insisted he did it to ruin a bet allegedly placed for a 5-1 full-time score.

The GFA has begun an investigation and recommended the case to the police for a further criminal probe.

However, Ghanaians have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure.

Football in Ghana is no stranger to controversy, with the country still coming to terms with the massive corruption scandal uncovered in Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Number 12 documentary, which grounded the game in the country for close to two years.

After finally completing a league season, many Ghanaians, who had been hopeful of a resurgence in the country’s most popular sport, have been left disappointed with the events of the final day.

The hashtag #FixGPL is at the top of the trends on Twitter with related terms including Ashgold and Inter Allies also trending.
