Coach Bashir Hayford has taken a swipe at former Kumasi Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Maxwell Konadu for taking up the role of Head Coach at Legon Cities while he was still at the helm of affairs.
With just three games left to the end of the season, Legon Cities appointed Maxwell Konadu as part of the technical staff for the team in a bid to help the club avoid relegation.
However, the club on their social media accounts referred to the Black Starlets head coach as their new coach leaving many to wonder the role of Bashir Hayford in the team.
The veteran Ghanaian coach has now been sidelined as Konadu has taken charge of the team, leaving the veteran coach feeling betrayed by the former Kotoko gaffer and Legon Cities.
“If you knew I am a senior coach, why did you accept the job with only two matches left? He told Graphic Sports.
“Why don’t you allow your senior to even finish the season? That’s what I will do; I don’t jump into jobs like that,” a visibly upset Hayford, aka coach Bash, lamented.
”They (management) said they had added him to the technical team and that he should play the two matches left.
“Even to help him to train he said I was a senior coach and he could not train with me standing there.”
”I think my face is intimidating because he said I was a senior coach and that he gave me that respect and so he wouldn’t feel happy.
“So indeed, if you are given a job and in my presence, you say this then you are telling them you cannot work with me and that they should sack me,” coach Hayford said.
With one game left to go in the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season, Legon Cities sit just one point above the relegation and will need a win against Techiman Eleven Wonders on Sunday to stay in the top flight.
